Tigers Done

Finally got around to finishing the GHQ Tigers. It’s kinda too bad I don’t play WWII, I’m pretty happy with how these came out.
Camouflage was airbrushed using the amazing Badger Sotar 20/20 airbrush.

AK Interactive Ultra Matte Varnish

Final report … Today I got the AK Interactive Ultra Matte Varnish and gave it a try on my M60A3 that felt was still too shiny after first trying Vallejo Matte Varnish and then Testors Dullcoat. As you can see in the photos below, the AK Ultra Matte is fare superior to the other finishes. I REALLY love this product and will be using it quite a lot in the future.
One of the interesting things about this product is that you can control the amount of effect it has by controlling how much of it you use. I think I’ll test this theory on another model … I’ll just keep applying it till I see how far I can take it.

Photos were all taken in the exact same light with the camera on manual mode with same shutter speed, f/stop, and ISO. Images all received the exact same post processing in Adobe Lightroom. I tried to make the best comparison possible.

Done with the first M60A3

Done with the M60A3. I’m not happy with the Vallejo “Matte Varnish”, it still looks a little shiny to me. I’ve got some AK Ultra Matte Varnish on order,, when it gets here I’ll give it a try and see if it’s better.

Workbench Progress

After all the silly things like paint racks and tool drawers have been added, it’s time to concentrate on the important things.   Tonight I added a TV in the corner and an AppleTV so I can watch inspirational movies while I work … or Fawlty Towers.

Just A Little Bit Of Painting

The therapeutic power of a hobby is amazing. I have been so busy with work for the last few months I have not touched any Micro Armor in as long. Just taking a few minutes tonight to throw a little paint (first of three colors) on a few minis made me feel good and remember why I do this. Next step (probably tomorrow) is to apply the camouflage colors, this is will be a good job for my new Sotar 20/20 airbrush.

Something Cool From My Past

I picked up these rules on eBay for a reasonable price.  This rule set has some sentimental value to me,,, it’s the very first miniatures war game I ever played.  This is the set of rules that got me interested in Micro Armor … and eventually led me to the business I’m in today.
I’m happy I found these, in pretty good condition, at a fair price.
